Most clients have no idea what the path is that they are going to follow to result in their obtaining an architectural design for their new house and what will happen during construction. This online article provides a summary guide to help you on your way.
This is going to be a special “white paper” offering on our new website format, coming in the next month or so, but we are also offering it on this post. It is about 16 pages that provides a direction for people embarking on this interesting path of design & construction. It breaks down this complex process into 8 main steps:
1. PROGRAMMING
2. SCHEMATIC DESIGN
3. DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
4. CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS
5. BIDDING – PRICING
6. CONSTRUCTION ADMINISTRATION
7. WARRANTY PERIOD
8. POST WARRANTY
In the white paper, each of these main phases is explained, typically with one or two examples, to help you understand what is happening in each.
All of this, even the Design & Construction Guide Summary, is still only a preface to an upcoming book being written by our founder, architect Rand Soellner, ArCH / NCARB / LHI, which should be available on Kindle in the next couple of years. This book will be of novel-length and have just about anything you might need to help you through the entire process, in great detail.
Today’s offered summary is merely a brief guide to help you know the broad brush-strokes of the path traveled to help you obtain your architectural house design and construction of that residence.
