The best of the world’s mountain home design in House With A View
Rand Soellner Architect has 3 custom homes featured in this beautiful book, which just was released from Images Publishing (Brussels/ London/ Melbourne/ New York/ Sao Paulo) (March, 2008). By our count, there was only one or two other architectural firms with as many custom mountain homes featured in this impressive new book.
The book focuses on mountain home design from all over the Earth. Images out did themselves, with this definitive and artistic volume that describes the state of the art in the design of custom mountain houses from Rand Soellner’s post and beam architecture in North Carolina to China, Switzerland and back again. The entire world of vacation houses was featured with the best of the best mountain residential design architects. Rand Soellner feels honored to have had so many of his projects selected to appear in this book, with the likes of Richard Meier, Mario Botta and other luminaries of the architectural world. Some of the world-class architects had projects in this book that were conceptual, meaning that these particular residential designs of theirs were not built. All of Soellner’s projects in the book have been constructed and are standing the test of time in the real world.
“We look forward to featuring your magnificent houses in our books again, soon. All the best!”

Rand Soellner remembers being contacted by the author of the book, who lives in Switzerland. “I got an e-mail from this fellow, asking if I would like to have several of my custom mountain home design projects featured in a new book, said Soellner, “I asked in my reply if there was some catch, and he said, no. No catch. I just felt that your designs would be appropriate for the new book.” Soellner said he was delighted to have his work noticed on the worldwide stage and agreed to allow images of some of his mountain houses appear in the new book about custom residential design architects. Images Publishing is a first-class publisher in Australia and throughout the world, that has a specialty in the publication of fine architectural volumes, having published the lifeworks of various other architects of note through the years.
Images mentioned doing that with Rand Soellner’s work some day but Rand said: “Maybe in another decade.” For now, he is content to be published on pages in a significant volume about mountain houses and design, rubbing shoulders with giants of the architectural world.
