In the world of residential design (house architecture) this marks the continued evolution of trends in the size, features, materials, appliances, equipment, cost, and arrangement of aspects of new housing.
Looking out my windows, I see fluorescent yellow and green buds on top of forsythia hedgerows. These plants have been around a long time, so they must know that it is safe to stop hibernating and enjoy the 60 to 70 degree weather. Whether the calendar agrees or not, the plant world tells us winter is apparently over. Welcome to Spring 2011.
What are the design trends that this residential architect sees?
1. In addition to the occasional larger house, more mid-sized residences in the 1,750 to 3,500 HSF (Heated Square Feet) range.
2. More homes in the mid-priced range of between $250,000 to $450,000. This of course has a direct impact on the size of the houses in item 1.
3. More clients who want architects to design their residence in these smaller categories. They have lived for decades in other people’s initial houses, or in a builder spec house and now want to have a real architect design something for their specific objectives.
