Virginia is just one of the many states in which we have had projects to design for clients. We are presently designing one of our new Forest Meadow series houses for a couple there.
Residential Architect designing for Virginia Homestead
The beautiful rolling hills of Virginia and their mountains about 6 miles away are the setting for this beautiful project on a family farm in Botetourt County, Virginia. Rand Soellner was interviewed and engaged the same day to design one of his new series Forest Meadow houses for this historic area.
Part of the appeal was the saltbox roof arrangement on the 2 story design with the walkout basement. The roof structure provides about 13′ of ceiling height with tall sliding glass doors and clearstory upper windows to bring in plenty of natural light, through energy efficient double pane low-E glass, which Soellner specifies on this series residence.
Part of the appeal of this series is the open design planning and generous square footage, with a full finished basement, complete with Mud Room/ Laundry, Family Room, 2nd Kitchen downstairs, Utility Room, 2 spare Bedrooms and full Bath, and Covered Rear Porch with outdoor shower and Patio.
The main level, accessed on the road side as the 1st Floor features a generous Foyer with large coat closet, Powder Room, huge Gourmet Kitchen, Stairs, Great Room with Dining and fireplace, Master Bedroom, large Master Bathroom with garden tub, His & Hers vanities and a sink for each, toilet room, oversize 2-person shower and large walk in closet. There is also a full-sized Laundry/Pantry near the Kitchen, and access to the Bridge. The Bridge leads to the 2-car oversize Garage. This particular client is considering enclosing and finished and heating and cooling the Bridge to become a useful interior space between the Garage and Main House.
There is also an Outdoor Living Room facing the view and a Sleeping Porch, with a 2-sided fireplace, and a Summer Kitchen. If this sounds like a million dollar+ house, it normally would be. However, Soellner has figured out how to accomplish this for less than half that, depending on local contractor bids and client choices for finishes and other features.
If this sounds like a great deal to you, it is. Give Rand Soellner a call to see about him customizing one for you.
